Welcome to The John A.

Welcome to The John A. Charity Golf Scramble, a unique Parent-Child 2-person format where a parent and their child team up to play together. A parent can also be a grandparent, stepparent, guardian or mentor - and child can be 10+ years old to an adult. We are thrilled and thankful to have your support for this event.

Our charity mission is simple; give kids in Wayne County access to programming and resources to the sport of golf, a game with unlimited benefits and life lessons; shared with family, friends or complete strangers of all ages, for a lifetime. 

As we reflect on our journeys growing up with the game of golf, it's clear this game is not nearly as accessible as many mainstream sports (football, basketball, or baseball) that require nothing more than a ball and a local park, in walking distance. To play golf, you must have a set of clubs, a bag, balls, tees, a course to play or safe area to practice, money for course fees, and a family member or friend to take you to and from those locations. In short, the game involves more time and money than most.  Our mission and passion is to aid in removing or reducing those barriers so kids have the opportunity to learn and play the game we love! 

We’ve partnered with the Orrville Area Boys & Girls Club to further develop and expand their golf program, which started in 2022. The program is looking for volunteers, coaches, programming, and especially equipment.  With your help, we can make the game readily accessible to more kids and families by providing better resources and equipment.

Along with the OABGC Golf program, our event also benefits the John Alioto Memorial Scholarship that provides a scholarship to local youth leaders heading into secondary education.
